The Badlands, Wounded Knee and Pine Ridge, SD

Day 405 (Video 1) (Video 2) (Slideshow)
This is a place I'm looking forward to seeing. I'm fascinated with the area and the history. The Buffalo and Mountain Sheep, Deer and Elk are everywhere. I'm finally in the land of the Lakota Souix and Northern Cheyenne.

The Missouri River, South Dakota

Day 403 (Video 1) (Video2) ( Slide show)

Glad to make it out of Wisconsin. The camping was very limited. Water that was brown and high prices. South Dakota is very different. Great prices and showers. Gotta love it. The Missouri River is quite a site. I would love to get out on it for a few days in a canoe.

Day 397 (Slideshow)

Decided to head north to Montreal. Thanks Naomi for the great time and the couch. I wish I could have spent more time here. The city has a lot of things to do and the people from Montreal are great. I will have to return someday.

The Long Trail Vermont August 16, 2009

Day 395 (Slideshow)

Lucky to find any camp but Apollo was looking out for me again and led me to Barrewood Campground, Westfield, VT.
An unbelievable tent area in the back of the campground right on Jay Brook. Mark Perry is the owner and a real nice guy.

The Long Trail I just did a short piece of the trail but it was a great adventure. At this time of year it is quite dangerous if your by yourself.

Making Mistakes August 11, 2009

Day 390 (Slide show)

I'm trying to find a camp spot somewhere close to the trail head at Jonesville, VT. I want to do a segment of the Long Trail but arrived to late and no place to camp. But, I didn't even have a map. Not very smart, I thought I could wing it. Slept in the car which was a bad thing to do but found wifi service at the rest stop. Real nice of Vermont to have this service. I have to plan better. I can't get let myself get so caught up in the drive.

White Mt of NH to Acadia NP, Maine August 10, 2009

Day 389 (Slide show) (Video 1) (Video 2)

Acadia NP is a big disappointment. Lot's of commercial swill outside the gates. From Bar Harbor to the other side of the island its one huckster after another. I got to get out of here.
I'm sure it was a beautiful place once.

Day 384 (Slideshow) (Video 1) (Video 2) (Video 3)

One of my greatest days.
To ride my Betsy on the streets of NYC and to find the Strawberry Fields Memorial for John Lennon in Central Park.

Also, I was glad to survive this adventure.

My Shipment Has Arrived August 2, 2009

Day 381 (Slideshow) (Video 1) (Video 2)

It took 30 days. I'm going to miss this old crate. It served me very well. I always thought this plan of shipping my gear and bikes would be the hardest thing to pull off but there wasn't a single problem both ways.
I want to thank,
Leah, my friend at REI who helped me with the planning.
Moses, my friend at ETC International Shipping (Long Beach, CA) who built this crate and shipped it to Prague. He also handled the logistics to ship it back to Newark, NJ.
Pavel, from CS Cargo in Prague who helped me receive this crate and stored it for me for 8 months before we shipped it back to Newark, NJ.
Daniel Plavecký, my friend in Prague who pulled off the feat of the century and cleared me through customs in Prague.
Pat, my sister who figured out a way to get this crate to New Haven, Conn from Newark, NJ.
